Langley Christmas

A Light In The Darkness

Published 6th December 2023

Happy Christmas from Langley Trust!

During this season we are considering the theme of A Light In The Darkness as we reflect on the coming of Jesus into a dark world to bring light, joy and hope. At Langley we seek to follow this example and bring light into the lives of the people we work with – sometimes in the darkest periods of their lives.

This year, instead of an online Carol Service, our teams and services across the country are celebrating Christmas by running their own unique and local events. Join with us by watching this short Christmas video – including a greeting from Tracy our CEO, a short Christmas message, prayers and a story from one of our clients – all of which will be played across Langley at local carol services throughout this season.

May we wish you and your loved ones a blessed Christmas!

Simon Herbert, our Director of Finance & Business Services, introduces A Light In Their Darkness – Christmas Appeal.

Our clients have faced unprecedented financial pressures prompted by the cost-of-living crisis and most seriously, as the colder months loom large once again, massive energy costs. We’re raising funds to help our clients pay their utility bills through the winter months – learn more at the link above.

Client Christmas Card Competition

The client Christmas card competition has become an annual Langley tradition. It is a great opportunity to encourage our clients to get involved with Langley beyond their local service, express their creativity and enjoy exploring different aspects of Christmas.

The theme was “A Light In The Darkness” and below are our winning and two highly commended entries. These designs were used to create this year’s Christmas Cards which will be sent to Langley partners, supporters and friends.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can not extinguish it.” John 1:5

Father, Lord of all creation. In the beginning You spoke the words ‘Let there be light’ and it was so. This Christmas we are remembering that You are light in the darkness. We praise You that Your light has continued to shine for all generations.

Lord, we pray for the work of Langley Trust. We thank and praise You for Your faithfulness and provision towards us, for over 65 years. We pray for all our clients; for each volunteer, staff member and supporter; and for all our families and friends, that we would know Your life-giving light in our lives, this Christmas.

We pray all these things in the glorious name of Jesus Christ, Light of the World.

Amen
